Mentorship
Mentorship is defined as “the guidance provided by a mentor, especially an experienced person in a company or educational institution.”
This is a pretty formal definition of a mentorship. However, we often experience mentorship more informally than not.
Regardless of your professional and personal goals, having a mentor provides you with the expertise you need to determine how you will reach your goals including guidance and assistance to get there. No one ever gets anywhere without assistance.
Do you have a mentor? Consider this and realize that a person or folks in your circle may serve as your unofficial mentors. For example, my parents and older sister served as my earliest mentors. When I was a little girl, I wanted to be like my sister, bossy, beautiful and super intelligent. So far, I’ve reached two out of the three...working on the bossy part!
However, as someone once told me, you do not have to have a mentor to have and experience mentorship opportunities. So, look around and consider who has the expertise to help you reach your goals.
